FYI, the National Library of Australia ran a six month, collaborative IM trial service from December 2006 to June 2007.

Your students might be interested in an article we wrote on the trial, which was originally published in Australian Library Journal, but is also available as a preprint at http://www.nla.gov.au/nla/staffpaper/2007/documents/IM-ALJ-article.pdf.
