At the risk of introducing an unwanted political component (so I won’t be offended if you delete this comment), I went through a similar experience a few years ago, and it’s why I will never again visit the US.
I have gotten “pulled aside” a couple of times. Lord knows why; often it’s they dislike my travel overnight bag, so I get the “did you pack your own luggage?” (yes, I know, I probably should have been neater, officer–I just think it, don’t say it) and similar questions. I have learned to just take a deep breath, relax, and let them wand me and ask their questions. Last thing I want is to end up on some YouTube video; it is still an unnerving experience, which is why I avoid traveling by air if I can. Sorry to hear of your experience. Maybe it is us being librarians.
Anyhow, hope the rest of your travels go better. Best, and keep on blogging.
Wow! How very unfortunate. I know security has been increased due to after effects of 911, but they seemed quite rude! Sorry to hear about your experience!

Sounds like a horrible experience. I’m sorry.
