And the problem for which I was a "troubleshooting superhero" (basically, wrapping logins and admin pages in SSL) has been made <a href="http://www.kerrins.co.uk/blog/admin-ssl/" rel="nofollow">significantly easier</a>. We're on the 1.0-rc4 version and it's going swimmingly. If you do want your own wpmu installation, it’s pretty dead easy to do.
