“Gaming is a magnet that attracts library users of all types and, beyond its entertainment value, has proven to be a powerful tool for literacy and learning,” said ALA President Loriene Roy.
Where is the proof that gaming is a “powerful tool for literacy?”
I’ve written about this extensively at http://theshiftedlibrarian.com/tag/gaming-in-libraries, but there is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence to support Loriene Roy’s statement (especially if you look at the research coming out of the education field).
You’re welcome to track the data that comes out of this grant through our blog at http://gaming.ala.org/news/, which should help answer your question.
