I just read about another use. Delta Airlines (and the merging Northwest) have introduced Moblie check-in, using the 2D code on your PDA or web-enabled cell phone. Here's a link to Delta's site explaining https://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin/itineraries_checkin/options/mobile_checkin/index.jsp

Hey you know it's the wave of the future if CSI: New York has already used it in a show. I saw this three weeks ago on there, so I already knew about it. Great to see that some libraries are ahead of the curve.

We used QR barcodes in a library exhibit for our freshman common book project. The barcodes deliver enhanced information about the exhibit directly to a cell phone. Students can link to videos, specially designed searches in our library catalog for more books on a topic, etc. Since all freshmen on our campus were issued iPhones or iTouches, the technology was a natural extension of our library services. See our photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/aculibrary/tags/mobiletagging/
