I feel like we are definately looking at the 'space' people we use to watch on t.v. and I don't know if I want to live in that world. Yes, technology is exciting but who is going to teach this to our students? The article keeps talking about the librarian taking on that task. I think about the children entering our schools now who in many cases are going into classrooms without a computer to use. Even if there is a computer the day is focused on academics to pass the MCAS...time is not set aside to learn technology (and the technology specialist have long been eradicated from the staff along with the art and music teachers). It frightens me to think that libraries will be meeting places to pass out laptops and that books won't be checked out. As the video (on the class site) shows, kids are already only reading spark notes and not full books. Perhaps I need to think about this some more. All this 'futuristic' way of life does not set well with me. Wow! There is so much information in this article but I find it very scary.
