Every job has a different set of requirements, and every hiring manager has to justify the salary you're asking them to offer you. Help them by building enough evidence to make it clear you're worth the money.

i think this is entirely cool. the thing is, there really is a significant lack of intellectual generosity in our field. but one doesn't become the 'smartest' or 'the best' by keeping knowledge to oneself. one ends up expending so much energy keeping secrets, that intellectual growth is inhibited. and.

we all have different interests. many places really wouldn't be a good fit for everyone. just because times are hard, doesn't mean that 'fit' no longer matters. in fact, it might matter more than ever, because once hired, we could *be* there for awhile. the job you think would suck might be the perfect opportunity for someone else. and that library definitely needs the right person.

Kelly - great resource - doing a library paper that involves looking at changing needs for library professionals from an employer's viewpoint and although am downunder (NZ) this will be a fun way to troll through position descriptions etc.

Kelly, two words: You rock.

This was so uplifting to read. I know that when you do something you love ("from your heart") it will pay off in ways you probably can't even imagine right now. You are not crazy. You are awesome! There is no doubt in my mind that you will land the job that is perfect for you.

As a soon-to-be grad I thank you for the amazing resource AND for sharing yourself. I hope to meet you in person one of these days.

Again: you rock!
