  1. When studying art history at university, I found attending lectures relaxing and a valuable as a way of maintaining contact with other students. Less so when i was studying librarianship as a grad dip. However, I think that the lecture format is quite an effective way of communicating understanding of topics and providing overviews. Booklists and information resource lists (online and on print) were where i found the most information in the long term when i was studying. However, i disagree with Dan that lectures and then exams and presentations were disadvantegous to my process of education.
