			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>From 28 July &#8211; 5 August 2009, Ticer&#8217;s international summer school &#8220;Digital Libraries à la Carte&#8221; will be held at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. The programme of this annual event for librarians and publishers is completely renewed. You can pick your choice from a &#8216;menu&#8217; of seven one-day modules:</p>

<li> Module 3: Tomorrow&#8217;s Library Leaders</li>
<li> Module 4: Integrated Search Solutions Toward Catalogue 2.0</li>
<li> Module 5: Institutional Repositories &#8211; Preservation and Advocacy</li>
<li> Module 6: Libraries and Research Data &#8211; Embracing New Content</li>
<li> Module 7: Libraries and Collaborative Research Communities</li>
</ul>
<p>The course website can be found at <a href="http://www.tilburguniversity.nl/ticer/09carte/">www.tilburguniversity.nl/ticer/09carte/</a>. Those registering before 1 May 2009, will get a €150 discount.</p>
<p>The course is recommended by LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries), JISC, DEFF (Denmark&#8217;s Electronic Research Library), CBU/KUB (the conference of university libraries in Switzerland), Helsinki University Libraries, and NFF (Norwegian Association of Special Libraries).</p>
<p>The course is targeted at library managers/directors, deputy librarians, library middle management, digital library project managers, IT/systems librarians, IT specialists, information specialists, and repository managers from academic, research and special libraries, and at publishers and researchers.</p>
<p>To guarantee an interactive programme, the number of participants is limited, lectures contain an interactive component, experiences can be exchanged via creative coffee sessions, and two modules are workshops with working group sessions.</p>

<li> Preservation and curation of research data &#8211; the library&#8217;s role</li>
<li> Research collaboratories and virtual research environments &#8211; the library&#8217;s role</li>
</ul>
<p>Course directors are Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard, Deputy Director General, Royal Library, Denmark and Jan Wilkinson, University Librarian and Director at The University of Manchester.</p>

<li> Irmgard Boomers, Head User Services at the Dutch national library, will offer a refreshing view on the strategic marketing of libraries</li>
<li> Jan Wilkinson, University of Manchester, and Lucy Jeynes, Larch Consulting, have developed several successful change management courses for Ticer and, this year, present a new leadership course as well as the change management course</li>
<li> Jørgen Madsen, IT Consultant at The Royal Library in Denmark, is manager of the Ex Libris Primo project at the Royal Library.</li>
<li> David Lindahl is a principal investigator for the eXtensible Catalog Project hosted at the University of Rochester, River Campus Libraries</li>
<li> Alma Swan, director of Key Perspectives Ltd, is well-known for her research into and work on Open Access</li>
<li> Tim Brody, researcher at the University of Southampton and core developer for EPrints.org, is an expert on the impact of Open Access on citation</li>
<li> Chuck Humphrey has run a successful data library at the University of Alberta, Canada, since 1992</li>
<li> Ken Miller, Associate Director at the UK Data Archive, will lecture on the preservation and curation of research data</li>
<li> John T. Butler, Associate University Librarian for IT at the University of Minnesota, has lead virtual community development projects in several disciplines</li>
<li> Gary M. Olson, Professor at the University of California, Irvine, has conducted research into computer supported cooperative work for more than two decades</li>
