This fascinates me: the top ten best customer service sompanies includes Apple (hurrah!), GE and Hilton Hotels. I’ve achieved Hilton Honors Diamond staus because of all the Hamptons and Doubletrees I’ve stayed while on the road and have no complaints about their service, so I wasn’t surprised. This bit did intrigue me:

7. HILTON HOTELS CORPORATION – Laboratory Studies for Improved Customer Service

Innovation combined with a desire to better the customer’s experience is apparent in Hilton’s programs like the Hilton Technology Room, which is basically a laboratory for gathering customer feedback on new and emerging technologies. “”In its current iteration, the Hilton Technology Room blends high-tech features into a luxurious guestroom setting, enabling us to gain insight into how guests interact with the technology and which pieces would be appropriate for full-scale deployment to our hotels.”

So: Hilton is guest-centered and experimenting with new technologies to improve the experience. I like. I also like the MP3 clock radio that is a breeze to set.

So, dear library folk, try this on for size:

Innovation combined with a desire to better the user’s experience is apparent in the library’s programs like the Library Technology Space, which is basically a physical and online laboratory for gathering user feedback on new and emerging technologies. “”In its current iteration, the Library Technology Space blends high-tech features into a luxurious, seamless and customizable user physical and online experience, enabling us to gain insight into how users interact with the technology and which pieces would be appropriate for full-scale deployment to all libraries.”
