POSITION TITLE: Director of Community Engagement & Development

LOCATION: Main Library

STARTING SALARY: $78,972-$101,000

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Director of Community Engagement & Development is a key position on a new, senior-level executive team and is responsible for developing and directing the overall strategy and vision for the Community Engagement department of PLCMC. It provides oversight and management of Community Engagement functional areas including: Fundraising & Development, Volunteer Coordination, Customer Satisfaction Assurance, Festivals & Exhibits including Novello, and Library Partnerships. This person is responsible for forging and leveraging partnerships that advance the mission of PLCMC and expands the reach of PLCMC for enlarging its customer base. The Community Engagement & Development Director will mobilize public support & advocacy for PLCMC, and establish PLCMC as a major facilitator for social discourse while cultivating high levels of trust within community. This position will also be responsible for augmenting Mecklenburg County government appropriations with aggressive development strategy.

POSITION TITLE: Director of Library Experiences

LOCATION: Main Library

STARTING SALARY: $86,898-$115,000

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County (PLCMC) is a dynamic, customer-focused organization that serves a community of approximately 850,000 citizens. PLCMC is seeking a dynamic, innovative and creative leader to guide key public library initiatives and programs in the position of Director of Library Experiences. The Director of Library Experiences reports to the Director of Libraries and provides a collaborative style of organizational leadership with the Director of Libraries and three other members of the newly-created leadership cabinet. As a member of the leadership cabinet, this individual will play a key role in developing the Library’s comprehensive vision and strategies and will work closely with all Library divisions to carry them forward by ensuring organizational effectiveness. This position is responsible for 24 library locations and has overall responsibility for a staff of more than 400. The areas of responsibility include lifelong learning; collection management; adult services; children and teen services; and outreach.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires: 7-10 years of high-level library management experience with evidence of progressive responsibility and interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving and decision-making and experience with multi-location library facilities is required. Excellent leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to develop managers and staff in a collaborative environment. Experience in matrix management. Education Level: A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required. NC Public Library certification required or must be obtained within a specified time frame as determined by the Library Director. POSITION TITLE: Director of Organizational Resources

LOCATION: Main Library

STARTING SALARY: $78,972-$101,000

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Director of Organizational Resources is a key position on a new, senior-level executive team and is responsible for directing the system-wide organizational support operations of the Library. This position facilitates the implementation of strategic administrative and service support plans, as well as the allocation and management of funds and staff. The Director of Organizational Resources provides overall management of the Human Resources, Finance and Operations functions. The Director of Organizational Resources provides guidance and direction to the services required to locate, build and maintain desired, secure community facilities; develop and optimize human resources capacity; and ensure timely delivery of highly relevant materials. As one of four direct reports to the Library Director, this position is responsible for ensuring the alignment of organizational operations with the other key areas of PLCMC.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Director of Research, Innovation and Strategy provides leadership and oversight, monitors, communicates and administers the direction of the strategic and tactical aspects of the organization.. This position is responsible for maintaining the direction for Annual and Long-term Strategic Planning, Marketing/Communication Planning, Information Technology, Research and Innovation. Strategically aligns the library, and partners with community organizations, to increase literacy and workforce preparedness, branding PLCMC as the premier literacy resource for the community.
