Position Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an academically accredited college or university and three (3) years of public library experience which includes 2 years of supervisory experience and experience using current technologies such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, various Adobe products, ASP.Net, Visual Basic.Net, Ajax, ColdFusion, Perl, JavaScripting, and Cascading Style Sheets. Requires broad knowledge of library materials, budget development and administration, supervisory skills, knowledge of governmental rules and regulations.
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. In addition, must have the ability to communicate and work effectively and tactfully with employees and the public as well as the ability to demonstrate good professional judgment.
Essential Job Tasks
Perform professional, administrative and supervisory work in developing and promoting growth of the Virtual Branch. Responsible for planning the Virtual Branch services, including initiation, organization, presentation, and implementation of information services to library customers via non-traditional methods. The Virtual Branch includes Books-By-Mail, Call Center, Bookmobile, and 24/7 Reference Services. Conduct ongoing evaluation of services and operations. Recommend and monitor branch budget. Establish, interpret, evaluate, and revise policies, procedures, and output measures. Compile and report statistics. Maintain service schedules. Provide reference and reader’s advisory services. Respond to customer concerns. Coordinate services for internal and external customers; assist with 24/7 reference and other services. Supervise, interview, evaluate and recommend for hire library staff. Fully complies with the Maricopa County Code of Ethics.
