Aaron just inspired me. All I’m saying is let’s look at our processes, policies, plans and technologies and make sure we are using the best tools for the best user-centered services. I leave for Kentucky at 6am! More from the road, if I can find wireless. Here’s the PDF of my Dead Technology Presentation from Wednesday Night.

http://tinyurl.com/nd33u I’ve used the lii.org site for many years in public instruction, reference work and as an example of human-edited subject guides that ROCK! Take the survey and help the folks at LII with decisions about funding. (The survey is open until March 16, 2006)
Thanks to everyone who commented on the Reinvention post, sent e-mails and posted flickr pictures tagged just so! — it really touched me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness! I have 2.5 more days at work at SJCPL and then I’m off to the next chapter.

Hey folks! CIL 2006 is just around the corner! I know the scheduling of both CIL and PLA at the same time is so unfortunate but for those attending either or both conferences, there’s some fun to be had in DC this March. This year, I’m teaching a couple of workshops: Tuesday, March 21, 2006 Computers in Libraries Preconference Workshops: Morning Session: “Teaching the Internet” with D. Scott Brandt, Afternoon Session: Technology Planning for 21st Century Libraries. Wednesday I’m moderating Steven Cohen’s Communities track and at press time […]

Via an e-mail from my cohort colleague Joyce: Hi All, Our own Rowena is featured in a New York Teacher article relating the importance of school library media specialists to student achievement. Way to go, Rowena! Yeah! Well done, Rowena! http://www.uft.org/news/teacher/feature/not_just_a_book_checker_outer/ School libraries work! But they work only when the enthusiasm, energy and professional skills of the school librarian — known today as the library media specialist — make a school library come to life.
I’m enjoying Michael Casey’s photos from Seattle. He’s out there for Microsoft with some other cool folk. He did what I would: arrive, get in the hotel and immediately zip over to see the new main library! http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelcasey/tags/seattlecentrallibrary/ Catch all the photos tagged seattlecentrallibrary here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/seattlecentrallibrary/
