http://www.aadl.org/node/2086 Launched on July 1, 2005, the new aadl.org has been selected by the American Library Association as the best library website in the nation for libraries with budgets of $6,000,000.00+. Skidmore Studio located in Royal Oak, MI worked with seven members of the AADL staff for five months in 2005 to determine the site goals, conduct usability studies with the public, determine a new site logo, and to develop simple administrative tools for maintenance. We wanted our site to be functional for all levels of computer proficiency, and we wanted to use interactive tools to facilitate communication with our […]
Arrived at the Cottage Originally uploaded by mstephens7. Greetings from Traverse City! I’ll be blogging a bit at the Up North Blog and tagging images UpNorth2006. Have a good holiday weekend!
Meeting with St. Catherine’s LIS Students Originally uploaded by mstephens7. One of the many. many highlights of the TTW goes North tour of Minnesota was meeting up with this group of St. Catherine’s SLIS students. Leah, in the blue jacket, was in my LIS753 class at Dominican. She arranged the gathering. We went to a nearby Caribou Coffee and talked about libraries. You know what fires me up? These four ladies are gearing up to make a difference in libraries! We were all over the board in our talk: L2, barriers, next generation librarianship, etc. Leah wrote the talk up […]

Greetings! I am heading North today, not to TC, but to Minnesota and five presentations in five cities in five days! I’ll be reporting from the road and posting pictures at Flickr. I am really excited to meet a bunch of Minnesota librarians. If you are attending any of the session, please say HI! http://www.selco.lib.mn.us/apps/training/courseDescription.cfm?courseID=10226
Greetings from Willowbrook, Illinois! I’m here for Metropolitan Library System’s Patron Day: Who Are These People & What Do They Want? Transforming User Perceptions of Libraries Today, I’ll get to hear Stephen Abram, VP of Innovation at SirsiDynix, on his extensive research on “library user personas;” based on thousands of user profiles, this research creates “types” or “personas” that stand for specific characteristics, behaviors, and characteristics of library users; Alane Wilson, Senior Library Market Consultant, OCLC, on the significant findings in the recent OCLC report “Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources;” and Ed Vielmetti, creator of the SuperPatron blog and […]
We had a little hiccup here at TTW and lost a handful of posts. They are back but comments may be gone! Thanks to Blake and Jessamyn for helping me out! Back to our regularly scheduled blogging…
At Panera again today: I used to call this the “Mobile Office” and it’s become just that as I write my research proposal and Library Technology Report. It’s almost like working again: I get here before 8am and stay all morning or sometimes into the afternoon. I am seeing folks — regulars, I guess — I used to chat with in the spring of 2003 when I started TTW. Jenny and I updated the Roadshow here last week because tomorrow we’re off to the Washington Library Association to present the Roadshow as a preconference workshop. I’m looking forward to meeting […]
