See You at PLA! Presentation at SJSU SLIS Exhibit Space

If you’re attending PLA next week, please look for me at the SJSU SLIS Exhibit Space at Booth 2100. I’m doing a short presentation: Dr. Michael Stephens Thursday, March 15 3:00 pm–3:30 pm  & Friday, March 16 11:30 am–12:00 pm Hyperlinked Libraries: Emerging Tech & Emerging Trends: What trends and technologies are impacting public library service? What does the evolution of library physical and virtual space look like? This presentation explores the hyperlinked library model through a lens of participatory service, transparency and emerging technologies. I’m happy to chat with anyone about our programs and opportunities for learning.

    Greetings from California! I’m out for SJSU SLIS Faculty Retreat  next week but today found me on the lovely campus of Dominican University of California. I spoke today at a faculty workshop, presenting an updated and expanded version of “The Hyperlinked Campus” with an emphasis on emerging technologies for teaching and learning. ILI 2012: New conference Programme Chairs, new venue

We’re excited to share news about the latest developments for this year’s Internet Librarian International conference. New larger venue – Olympia Conference Centre Following the success of last year’s standing-room only event, we are thrilled to be moving to London’s Olympia Conference Centre for the 2012 event. This purpose-built conference venue will give us more space for conference sessions, more scope for networking, and improved facilities including robust wifi. Beyond the Walled Garden – An Essay in SJSU SLIS Student Research Journal

I have an invited contribution in the new issue of SJSU SLIS Student Research Journal: http://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/slissrj/vol1/iss2/2/ I recently participated in a meeting convened at the Salzburg Global Seminar in Austria. For five days, over 50 librarians and museum professionals from all over the world gathered to critically examine the impact of participatory culture on library and museum work.
